When we visited Elba, we couldn’t believe how much history and beauty this little island holds. I had always known that Napoleon was exiled there, but standing at the Archaeological Civic Museum, learning the details of his time on the island, really brought it to life. But, history isn’t our only interest, so we made sure to explore beyond that. One of the highlights was climbing up to the Medici Fortress—those views were absolutely worth the trek! By the end of the trip to the island, I found myself wondering how Napoleon could ever have wanted to leave this place. Elba is simply amazing.
